Just to catch you up, I have finished another semester of school, and with that comes progress on several projects (one of which I am rendering as I type). I have animated Kyle the Whale again, this time jumping into a pool from a trampoline.

I am also in a group that is making an animation with the working title "Checkout Lane." I will put some of the concept art and the story reel on here as time goes on.

For now, though, I want to show off a fun little logo design that I have just recently vectorized. When I was 14, I made up a futuristic company that made military vehicles called "Phoenix Manufacturing," and I made a bird logo for them comprised mainly of circles.

In mid-2008, I revamped the logo to seem slicker and more refined, but I failed to create it at a high enough resolution to be usable. Several days ago, I finally vectorized it and have played a bit with designs involving the logo. Although I haven't found anything breathtaking, I think that I could do some very interesting work with it in the future.

Apparently, I don't have much hope for the future. I just started drawing and I came up with a whiny robot. I then decided to add the famous Star Wars line, which (not surprisingly) actually fits better in this scenario.

If you weren't paying much attention before, you didn't have access to the full resolution of many of my traditional media pieces and graphics. As of this morning, you do! I am still uploading the full-res graphics, but the traditional stuff is already up there. When you go to a page, just click the image to get the full resolution or right click and "Save As" to keep it forever.

This was originally going to be something like a Pokemon, but since I never really got into Pokemon, it ended up just being more like a modified cardinal.

It is unfinished and unsigned, but i don't feel like working on it.

No Car

This post is going to serve as a personal blog post (since I find myself somewhat interesting, and very few people read this anyways).

This week, I have lost use of my car, and that is most unfortunate. I have found that without my car, I feel slightly crippled and trapped. I have suddenly become an eighth-grader who needs to be dropped off places. It also means that my plans to visit friends this summer are somewhat dashed upon the broken power steering pump of my '95 Camry.

Alas, all is not lost. I simply cannot travel for a short time.

This will NOT hinder my Independence Day theme for the site, so be sure to visit on the 4th of July to see my stars and stripes!

Cooliris is possibly one of the coolest ways to view the internet. It takes image and video galleries and puts them on a 3D wall for you to see. If you use Safari or Firefox (on any platform), then you can install Cooliris for free!

This morning, I began work on making my site Cooliris-compatible, and I have now made one page viewable with the add-on! However, I am still working on getting the thumbnails and images to show the "Launch Cooliris" icon in the bottom left.

Stay tuned, because this is an excellent feature that gives you another way to access all of my latest media directly from the front page!

Theme It UP!

With my new site upgrade, it is INFINITELY easier and cooler for me to change the theme. As I used to with my MySpace (back when those were cool), I am going to change the site theme on holidays. I will find clever things to work into the background on the sides, and I will use a variable color palette for the two tones of the background (right now black and dark grey).

If you have no idea what I am talking about, here is an example of a theme for my site. (Also, this is a sneak peek at the photoshop image I used as a basis for my site!)

So here is what I am looking for:

What holidays should I change my website for? Any odd or little-known holidays would be great, seeing as I have an easy template to modify and plenty of free time, apparently. Just comment on this blog with any number of holiday names (along with their dates), and I will attempt to create a suitable theme for them and display it on the correct date.

Do not hold anything back from this. I want to see who my listening audience is, and I want some crazy ideas to work with.

The Site Is UP!

It took a whole lot of blitzkrieg-style coding, but my site is now up! It is working really nicely, and holds a lot of promise! I will FINALLY be able to post my thoughts on here, which is also an attractive and easy to find venue. If you haven't already figured it out, this is a blog that is run through Blogger, so if you have a Blogger account, you can log in and comment on these posts!

At any rate, I am very happy with the progress I have made in web design. I would NEVER have thought this site possible this soon, and I am very thankful!

Anyways, hope you keep coming back, because I only intend to add more content!

Interview With Phil Dragash: Director of "Midnight Plague" Describes Movie

Drew V: So Phil, how did you get started making this film?

Phil D: Well, the idea emerged out of my subconscious in late 2006, right after July, when Drew Vosburg informed me that he wanted to collaborate on a film. A longer film by my standards... Having had some unfortunate experience with people on the no-budget level, I knew that getting actors, and people to help me would be an overwhelming exercise... because when you work with no money [and do not] hire anyone for the project, no one completely commits themselves to the project, thus making the working process much, much, more grueling than one with a budget.

Back to the topic at hand, since I understood that it was Drew's idea for a film, and not mine, I could be assured that he would be completely focused on getting the project done, and that's what drove me to take on "Middy P." as we call it.

Drew V: How do you feel the film went overall?

Phil D: [Laughs] Well, I'm infamous for over-criticizing my own movies, as many of you know. The main problem obviously is the lack of proper "loot" to make these things with more "quality." So in my opinion, I'd say the movie sucks as a piece of dramatic narrative because of my terrible habit of "not getting serious with the picture," meaning that I know this film isn't going to amount to anything financially, or publicly. [A]nd, let's face it, it's just a movie made with an overused and beat up Canon GL2 camera, myself, Drew, and a few friends. All these issues keep hitting me like the force of a thousand evil mutant chimpanzee lizard-frogs and never get off my back! I kid you not, it really just "blocks" me from doing any kind of extensive and focused work and attention that one normally has to do when making a studio-funded feature. It's like "Whoa! This is so lame! We're pretending to be professional!" And with that in mind, the mutated chimpanzee lizard-frogs prevail and [remind me] that this movie isn't "for real.”

Let me get a bit more optimistic: I do, however, appreciate it that the people (Drew, Keith, Aaron, Lauren, Becky) I've "worked" with on this movie, [who] took time to help out and, as ridiculous or repetitive as my requests were, they'd follow them. That's a wonderful thing! We did come up with some really nice imagery for the crap we had to work with, though! I hope you like it as a dramatic narrative without a logical narrative to follow.

Drew V: What have you learned from your directing experience on midnight plague?

Phil D: Well, I learned that Lauren doesn't like me, Jake is an idiot, Aaron likes to cuddle, Drew can eat a double quarter pounder with cheese in, like, three bites, Keith's phone loves to ring the theme to the (thank goodness that's canceled) OC at the most inappropriate moments, and Chandler should not be allowed chocolate... no matter HOW small a piece.

In the long run, however, I've learned that to make a better movie you need money. MONEY! [Yelling] MOOOONEEEY!! Oh yeah, and dedication. You can't make a decent movie without total dedication and love for what you do. That's right, kids. Dedication is the name of the game... well, the no-budget game anyways. We all know that you're automatically dedicated to a studio-funded film by law via a contract signifying your position in the film. So, that's a pretty different ball-game.

Drew V: Any concluding remarks?

Phil D: Oh yeah! If you've ever had to BUY this movie from any other source besides me, you've been ripped-off, like the cowardly monkey you are! Say NO to counterfeits! NO! NO! NO!

Drew V: Thank you, Phil. It's been a nice chat.

Phil D: You're welcome. This can get pretty insightful, can't it?

Drew V: Not really, no.

Phil D: Oh. Okay. Bye then!

Drew V: Thanks for your time.
